Journey of Hope Campaign: Update #1

Over the past two years, significant progress has been made in preparation for the Journey of Hope Campaign.

Following our initial consultation with the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, we received a recommendation to consolidate all three proposed building projects under a single development permit application. This strategic approach streamlined the process, reducing the need for multiple professional assessments and eliminating redundant steps.

With this recommendation in place, we successfully met all necessary requirements to secure the required permit. The key milestones completed include:

  • Letter of permission to construct a new gym addition on ALR land.
  • Soil testing conducted by Metro Testing.
  • Flood risk assessment completed by Streamworks Consulting.
  • Hydrogeological assessment (lakes 100M survey) performed by Kala Geosciences.
  • Comprehensive property survey accurately mapping all buildings and corner pins, conducted by Pinpoint Surveying.
  • Finalized blueprints for new structures, developed by Avex Architecture.
  • Structural engineering assessment carried out by Syme Engineering.
  • Development permit officially granted by the CSRD on September 20, 2024.

As funding continues to be secured, we anticipate launching Phase One this spring. This initial phase includes the expansion of the gym, featuring a new shop and modern washroom/changeroom facilities. Subsequent construction phases will commence as additional funds become available, bringing us closer to realizing our vision for the Journey of Hope campaign.
