Staffing S.A.L.T. Program

A few things to note before you get started!

SALTs are required to serve a minimum of 2 weeks of the summer, not including the mandatory SALT Training Week (June 29 - July 4, 2025).

You are welcome to indicate availability for every camp! Keep in mind that checking 'yes' does not guarantee you will be serving that week.

If you are accepted into the SALT Program, one of the SALT Coordinators will contact you to confirm dates and get to know you a bit before the summer begins!

Time Commitment Expectations*

Volunteer Weeks

  • Start of the week: Be ready for the Staff Meeting, with your SALT shirt on, by 2 PM on the Sunday the camp begins. You are welcome to arrive earlier with your belongings to get settled into your cabin or dorm prior to the Staff Meeting, but there will also be time to do so after, so please do not arrive any earlier than 1 PM on that day.
  • End of the week: SALT responsibilities wrap up around 8 PM on Friday for Kids Camps, and around 11 AM on Saturday for Family Camps.

*The only exception is SALT Training Week. If you are accepted into the program, your parents will need to register you for SALT Training Week at www.sunnybrae.ca; details for that week are included in your registration confirmation email.

Weekends

SALTs are not able to stay on the property over the weekend as camp has grown significantly over the past couple of years, and the pace has become such that we have to apply additional care to all our staff's health. Because SALTs are considered campers, supervision is required, which we cannot provide while ensuring our summer staff can rest from the 24/7 pace they maintain while camps are in session. If you live too far away to return home for the weekends, we are happy to facilitate the billeting process by creating connections between parents. However, it is the responsibility of the SALT's parent to make and confirm billeting arrangements.
